Beautiful House Wednesday

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

I've always dreamed of living on a lake. So, I guess the dream is a lake house/farm house:)

I am totally in love with this lake house designed by Thom Filicia. Mental note: black interior doors and railings are so hot.

This mountain home is gorgeous.

And I would totally make it my own. In a heartbeat.

For the life of me I cannot remember where I found this house, but I saved it in my inspiration files for future reference.
It looks like a compound....and I want to live there.

Loving this small home by interior designer, Lisa Teague. The color palette is a new fave of mine, and wish I could pull off such a serene look, but I think I may be a little too bold for it!

The kitchen is my fave

I totally have the matching dresser to that Pier 1 bedroom set! These days I am anti-furniture set. I do, however, still like the dresser.

Yesterday, it was farmhouse inspiration, and today is something totally different! When I was a senior in high school, my friend, Sara, and I applied to a music/ministry program at a school in Sydney, Australia. We honestly thought we would hop on the 17 hour flight, live in Sydney, fall in love with some Aussies, and return home just for the holidays.

Yeah. Right.

We got accepted after a couple of vaccinations, a 100 word essay, and a letter of recommendation from our Pastor (Sara's dad). But we didn't go. There is no way on God's green earth that I could live that far from my family. I realize that now.
But if I was to live in Sydney, this house would definitely be a good choice!!

FYI: I totally have those black and white IKEA pillows:)

I could totally live here. The aesthetic isn't exactly my style, but with views like this, who cares?!

Beautiful right? I love the barn/garage housing the game room. Jake and I want a big barn behind our white farmhouse someday. Not for all of the horses, chickens, and cows (much to my dismay), but for a big game room, and maybe even a built-in bar. I'm thinking a little stage in the corner for family karaoke nights is a must as well:)

One that looks like this:

That would rock.

Beautiful House Wednesday stand-in...

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

I realize I have not done a "Beautiful House Wednesday" post in weeks...two or three, at least. My current "house" situation is a little stressful and has consumed my world. For those of you wondering, Jake got transferred and we are looking for a rental in between Traverse City and Manistee. We will both be commuting:( BUT, it's not forever. I know, 'Look on the bright side, Karlee!'

I came across this house this evening while blog browsin'. Anyone in the market to buy a house in Cornelius, North Carolina? Check out the Home's own personal website. Fabulous idea!

I am officially obsessed with white houses. And doesn't this one have great curb appeal?!

Today, I showcase the complete other end of the design spectrum. Yesterday was glamour, and this week's  beautiful home is special because it is my family cabin. My dad inherited the 10 acres, tore down the hunting shack, and took a few years to build our cabin by himself. Sure, he had a little help with electric and plumbing, and one of the amish families in the area even built the cupboards and vanity, but other than that, it was all Dad.

The entryway. Sorry, I didn't clean up.

Our Golden Lab, Miah's grave on the property:(

A tree planted in the backyard in memory of my cousin.

Saturday night, we had just enough sleeping room for the 8 of us. Of course, we could always throw down a couple of air mattresses as the family grows, but there's already been talk of each of the 3 of us kids and our families building smaller "sleeping" cabins on the property. With all of the babies we plan to bring into this world, we are going to need more room. jk:)
