Our October

Friday, November 1, 2013

We took some cute photos of Cash and some of his cousins on a beautiful fall day.

Is he not the cutest pumpkin you've ever seen?

I made some baby purees for Cash to start eating "solids". Why do they call them solids when there's nothing solid about them? So far? He likes sweet potatoes and pears/peas/broccoli and he hates avocado!

We've been sippin' on some Witches' Brew.

Cash was not loving his bear costume! Ah well...maybe next year!

Bye, Bye Fall

(favorite tree in our front yard, taken a few weeks ago)

The first day of winter is not officially until December 21st, but now that Thanksgiving is over it feels like a new season (despite the 60 degree afternoon we had). Let's take a look back at my Fall Bucket List and see how many items I can cross off.

Carve a pumpkin

Only buy things I love...(Fall for me means shopping.)

Attend a football game

Take a color tour

Make hard cider

Weekend getaway with the husband

Pull out the ol'e crockpot

Have a bonfire in the backyard

So, I guess 6 out of 8 isn't bad. I think it's important to write down goals and even something as silly as a fall bucket list, because then you kind of feel like you're being held accountable. At least I do. All work and no play makes Karlee a dull girl:)

Bring it on, winter.

Fall Fun

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

We have been enjoying Fall over at our little house. We spent an evening raking and trying to bury Layla in the leaves (which is part of the reason she won't look at me in the above photo). We also carved pumpkins...my very first time ever (so don't make fun), and made the most delicious pumpkin cookies. Mmm.

Then last Saturday night I attended a girls' night at my parents' cabin. I dressed up as a cowgirl last minute. We danced, sang karaoke, and had a LOT of laughs. Can't wait till next year, ladies!
Have you all done anything fun to commemorate the season???

It's about that time

Sunday, December 5, 2010

The snow has officially fallen, we've dragged out all the winter wear, and the first gifts have been bought. Christmas will be here before we know it. I always look forward to shopping with the crowds amidst the holiday madness. However, last year's trip to the mall two Saturdays before the big day was a disaster. I had three children in tow, and forgot the stroller at home:( So I paid to rent a two seater at the mall, it was equipped with an attached tall yellow flag. And it was like, "Thank you. Now no one will miss us." So, as I physically guided the massive stroller, with its tendency to veer to the left, and kept an eye on the third child who cannot, for the life of him, walk in a straight line, we ventured through the chaos. We battled the Target crowds for a good 40 minutes before I looked down and noticed that all we had in the basket was wrapping paper and scotch tape. I gave up.
Then while in the long check out line, the 4 yr old "has to pee." Of course.
Me: "Can you just wait until we check out? Only a few more minutes."
Her: "No, it's a 'mergency. I gotta go now."

So, I stuffed the goods in a nearby rack and we made a mad dash for the facilities. I mumbled something about wishing she still wore a diaper and she couldn't understand why I would want her to resemble her little sister. You know, the one happily sitting in her soggy diaper, until there came a convenient time for me to change her.
As I helped the 4 yr old do her thing without touching and catching every germ within her short reach, I quickly turned around to catch the stall door that was being pushed open, when my cell phone flew out of my coat pocket...RIGHT into the toilet! Yup, perfect aim, Karlee. Even after drying out the water logged phone, I still had to buy a new one.
I really hope this year's shopping extravaganza is a lot more fun, and a lot less stressful. It's sure to be because I will be accompanied by my mom and some friends...no small children are allowed:)
So, with all that being said, please do not take your children to the mall shopping with you this month. Save yourself the stress.
And let us remember the real reason for the season:)

Embrace Fall Y'all

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Yes, fall is my favorite season (remember, that IS until we buy a boat someday), but I thought it would be fun to write a fall bucket list. I have somewhat of a b. list written from now until my trip to Kingdom Come, but think of this as an immediate short list. Like, in case I were to die before I ever see fall again. Ok, I never meant to turn morbid. On with the list: (Remember, this is also my "on a budget" list, so no trips to Paris will be included!)

*Tailgating
*Go to a football game
*Wine tour
*Color tour
*Bake a pie
*Carve pumpkins
*Attempt to watch football on tv with Jake
*Buy a really great pair of boots
*Eat several chocolate covered carmel apples (consider this one done)
*Go to apple orchard
*Go Hiking

I'll continue adding as my list grows:)

Fall's my favorite

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Now I realize it is not officially fall yet, but in my mind it is. I love everything about fall.
In the fall the leaves change colors, and the cider and donuts taste better.
Fall means back to school, which means a break for this nanny.
In the fall the clothes are better and the weather's milder.
Fall means I turn 24, my husband turns 29, and we have officially been married 1 year.
In the fall running outside is more enjoyable, and football season begins.
Fall means bonfires, wine tours, and Thanksgiving dinner.
Fall gives me an excuse to redecorate.
But ultimately, fall signifies change.
And change is a good thing.
