Beautiful House Wednesday

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

                                                        Welcome to a Swedish abode
I think I have a thing with white houses, yes?

Wonderful open floor plan
I really like eat-in kitchens. Mostly because I'm not a huge cook, so huge kitchens I feel are a waste of space.
Master bedroom, may be the only room in the house where painted white floors would be do-able.
Let's face it, real families have sheds.
I would kill for that backyard.
not literally.

No, not the Paradise City, the Little White Church:)

I love this new song by Little Big Town! It makes me think of all those couples who date for years and years and years, while everyone wonders why they don't just get married (especially if they're living together). I have a hard time with those couples (sorry if you're one). I understand people have their reasons, but the bottom line is, if you're willing to spend several years of your life devoted to one person but are still unsure of whether or not you want to marry them, something's wrong. Afraid of commitment? Please. Who isn't. Worried your companion won't turn out to be your Prince/Princess Charming? Get a dog. I'm being serious. Marriage is not for the weak, that's for sure. But neither is any relationship. So, "bite the bullet", "sh** or get off the pot". "go big or go home", and whatever else people say.

You have to listen to this song:

"Did You Hear About The Morgans??"

I am a complete sucker for happy endings.
Last night I watched "Did you hear about the Morgans?" The entire movie I was thinking, 'this movie is ok. I'm not terribly impressed.' I just needed an excuse to sit down and rest my worried mind:)
It was kind of cute, don't get me wrong. I love me some Sarah Jessica. But the ending...was oh so happy!

(Quick disclaimer: If you plan to watch this movie and prefer to keep the ending a surprise, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER.)

After trying and trying to conceive, several unsuccessful attempts, dabbling in adoption options, endless arguing and disagreeing over this delicate matter...The movie ends with the married couple bringing home their newly adopted daughter, from China:) As if the picture wasn't sweet enough, Sarah Jessica turns, and wouldn't you know it, she's sporting a perfectly round baby bump. Two babies for the price of one:) I walked away convinced it was the best movie I've seen in years. For all you writers out there, all you need is a really great 3 minute ending and you'll have me drowning in happy tears!

my style

Monday, April 12, 2010

I have to say this room totally defines my style. And I am certainly daydreaming, not making plans to re-design our livingroom or anything. As a matter of fact, we will most likely be downsizing within the next couple of months. (I blame it on all that wanting to be minimal talk.)

The modern powder blue sofa and unique lighting is just enough contemporary for me, the armoire is so farmhouse chic, love white trim, and hate carpet, so the wood floors work, and that cocktail table...can you say "favorite table ever?" Just enough glam.

If anyone knows the source of this photo, please let me know.

five year old kisses

So today, I pick this girl up from school,
and here goes our conversation:

Molly: Connor kissed me.
Me: (surprised) He did? Where?
Molly: On the lips
Me: On the playground?
Molly: No, in car line, while I waited for you.
Me: Why did he do that?!
Molly: Because I told him to! (We all know who will be wearing the pants in her future relationships)
Me: Molly, you're 5 years old, why would you have him do that?
Molly: Because Karlee, when people are in love, they kiss eachother.
Me: (hiding my laughs) You're 5!
Molly: Well, my mom and dad are in love and they kiss.

So, I went into the whole, you're-too-young-to-be-kissing-boys lecture. But in all honesty, how do you deal with a situation like this? It's so innocent, but who really wants their five year old kissing boys at
school? Definitely not her parents. I mean, c'mon.

And the obsession with beautiful homes continues....

Welcome to the "Atlanta Brick House"

I love the brick exterior..so weathered and worn. If walls could talk...

The livingroom. How does one get away with having zero knick knacks?? Only for magazine shoots..

Give me an arched doorway anyday! Love the dining benches with backs.

Clean palette kitchen with great lighting.

Sorry, but I shed WAY too much for an all-white bathroom.

Black and white with a tangerine punch--love it!

rock-hard-fake tans

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

I've been a little delinquent with my posts and feel that this may continue throughout the week. As, this is a busy work week for me, and on top of that, I'm going to the gym again. My weight-lifting-obsessed husband got me a one month-free trial membership. Was that a hint that the pilates and running every so often wasn't cutting it? Or maybe he's just trying to help me out after hearing me complain about contemplating swimsuit shopping for the past month.
So, last night, I went. This gym is quite a bit different from our previous gym. The big guys with big arms, and loud grunts are somewhat inspirational to Jake, but you also can't help but notice the rock-hard bodied women with fake tans either. And they all hang out together. I'm an outcast of sorts, and I'm really ok with it. One thing that helped was the cute new work-out ensemble I was sporting. You can be in serious pain and still look good, right?
I tried staying focused while Jake directed me, "Straighten your back", "Stop lowering the weight when I'm not looking", and "Did you do all your reps?"
I miss working out alone:)
After an hour, it was back to the locker room with all of the rock-hard-fake-tans. One said to the other, "Chicken is on sale at Meijer for $7.99"
And they even eat healthy.
I'm sure I'll be back later with more work-out tales, but the dog just threw up after rough-housing with the monsters, so I must go.
