the barn home obsession continues...

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

What is going on with all of these DREAM barn homes? I know I will someday live in a barn again...I just know it. Hopefully it's as fabulous as the one below.

Read all about this home HERE. I am loving the concrete floors, genuine wood planks and barn doors. This renovation is incredible and I'm thankful for the inspiration.

Calling all prayer warriors--

Thursday, March 24, 2011

My heart breaks for orphans. For the children who are denied love and a family because of circumstances, because of the region they live in, or because of disabilities. Please pray for this sweet couple and the precious little boy they are desperately trying to adopt from Russia. The judge recently denied their request to adopt Kirill simply because he has Down Syndrome and "would be better off in an institution than with a family." They are in the process of appealing the decision and they need a lot of PRAYERS. Their story kills me...

a first attempt.

Remember how I said I was going to attempt painting over the weekend? Well I did. My art work is less than impressive. I used oil paints for the first time and decided to try my hand at a simple pattern, just to get the hang of things. So, chevron it was.

There's a sneak peek, and that is all you get:) Next time I think I will attempt something a bit more abstract with a wider range of colors. Anyone out there paint?? Do you prefer oil or acrylic?

Haiti

Haitian Proverb: "Nanpwen mon Jezi pa deplase."

There is no mountain that Jesus cannot move.

It's official. I'm going to Haiti in June. I'm not sure I can put into words how passionate I am about the work we're going to do there. All I can say is we're supposed to be ambassadors for Christ. And that is what I intend to do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Come, you who are blessed by my father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
The the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go visit you?"
The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
Matthew 25:34-40

artsy

I've been a little obsessed with art lately. I love anything unique, creative, colorful, abstract, real life, neutral...I love it all. Certain pieces appeal to me and often times I'm not even sure why. I only have a few pieces of art at the moment. Three that I bought--for super cheap, and one that was gifted, a painting done by one of my bridesmaids. Which she finished in her car 30 minutes before my wedding:)

Here are some more pieces that I am loving:

This weekend I think I am going to try my hand at painting a canvas. If it turns out halfway decent I will share it here on the blog. Wish me luck!

I have been bad at posting photos the last few months, so here are a few. In January, one of my best friends got married and Sara attended as my date! Then my mom and I went to Colorado to visit our sweet friends Jamie and Charlie and to celebrate JaeLynn's 3rd birthday! I also got to meet up with my high school friend, Tia, and her new baby in Denver! And lastly, my nephew, Houghton, turned 2 in February!

Meditating on this.

Doors Will Open

Thursday, March 10, 2011

"If you do what you can do, God will do what you cannot do. Doors will open, a way will be made, and creative ideas will come. You will also inspire others to do what they can do, and even though each person can only do a little, together we can make a big difference."
-The Confident Woman Devotional, Joyce Meyer
