7 Months Old!

Thursday, December 26, 2013

Cash was 7 months old on the 22nd. I can hardly believe it! He sure is getting hard to photograph since he's all over the place. The drool is prevalent these days as he is getting both of his front bottom teeth!

He had a great first Christmas and is gearing up for New Years!
Christmas photos to come....

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Fighting Christmas Perfection

Saturday, December 21, 2013

If you currently read any "mommy blogs" or look at Pinterest, for that matter, you know that moms all over are running around shopping for organic wooden baby toys ( because they're cuter), moving the Elf every night, creating crafts, celebrating every day of Advent, baking treats and three course meals all while wearing heels, a Christmas apron and sipping spiked eggnog.

That is just not reality for some of us. I've tried to do "Christmasy" things this month while at home with Cash but let's be honest, he's 7 months old and couldn't care less whether or not we are being festive every day in December. The other day I told Jake that I felt guilty because I hadn't done enough to celebrate Cash's first Christmas season. After my confession I quickly snapped out of it.

Jesus is the reason for this season and how many cookies I bake (which is zero because my oven's broken) or how many gifts I buy is irrelevant.

We will never be perfect and our Christmas will never be perfect. But many people would say lying a newborn baby in a manger surrounded by farm animals isn't perfect either. And we all know how that story ends.

So, we are going to continue fighting Christmas perfection over here. Don't sweat it if your kids are wearing mismatched pajamas instead of holiday stripes on Christmas morning, while opening cheap plastic toys. Just make sure they know the story of the baby wrapped in swaddling cloths lying in a manger.

A Holiday Photo Shoot

Friday, December 13, 2013

The other day I decided to add some lights and garland to the window in the TV room turned play room since that is where we spend all our time. Cash thought it was a good opportunity to play with the blinking lights (or put them all in his mouth). Which of course, was the perfect time for an impromptu photo shoot.

Santa just got sexy, folks.

He refused to look at me. Those lights sure are distracting. These were too cute not to share but now I must get back to our Pandora Christmas listening and hot chocolate making.

Happy Weekend!

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

Here are a few photos of the house decorated for Christmas, very minimalist, if I do say so myself. We got a real tree this year and while it has its imperfections, I think it's so cute and smells wonderful.

Cash isn't mobile this year so our tree is still intact. He loves to sit and stare at it and once in a while will try to reach for an ornament. Looks like Dad wins again and Mom will never have an artificial tree adorned in white lights. Two against one. Sigh....

Our November

Sunday, December 8, 2013

The month of November seemed to fly right by. On the 5th we celebrated my birthday with my parents, Jake's parents and my brother.

That weekend my cousin and her boyfriend came to stay with us and spend a little time with baby Cash.

Someone started sitting up all by himself and is quite proud!

And crawling? No dice. His pediatrician actually said he may be one of those babies who doesn't roll or crawl much because he hates being on his belly that much.

Cash went on his first plane ride to Colorado. He was so good on the plane, smiling at every stranger. He was so excited to travel that he was up for 14 hours straight that day! (minus two 10 minute naps).

He got to spend some time with his Auntie and Uncle:)

We stayed with our friends (who are more like family) and it was so nice to bond and spend time with these women. Even if 5 of us did get the 24 hour stomach bug!

Headed home to see Daddy. A week away from Chunk just about killed him....

And who wouldn't miss this face?
Best. Picture. Ever.

6 Months Old!

Saturday, November 30, 2013

Our big guy is six months old...crazy. He jabbers like crazy, sits up unassisted, rolls easily from back to belly, loves all baby food and smiles at every stranger he comes in contact with!
He doesn't have a tooth yet but there are days he is clearly uncomfortable so I believe that first tooth will be popping up any day now.

Stats (6 months, 12 days):
Weight: 22.5 lbs
Height: 28.5 in
Head size: 18 in.
Still in the 95th percentile all around.

Desires Fulfilled

Saturday, November 9, 2013

I was reading through some old posts the other night. It's fun to look back and see where I've been, what piqued my interest at what time. And I came across this post about finding out someone was pregnant with twins. I've never wanted anything more than I wanted a baby. Since childhood I knew I wanted to be a mother. Those feelings have been confirmed time and time again throughout the years.

I couldn't wait for my very own brown haired boy with a rock star name and dimples. I got exactly what I wanted. Grateful does not begin to describe what I feel when I think about my little babe.

My night spent reading through old posts was such a great reminder of this:
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."
-Psalm 37:4

Desire fulfilled.

Our October

Friday, November 1, 2013

We took some cute photos of Cash and some of his cousins on a beautiful fall day.

Is he not the cutest pumpkin you've ever seen?

I made some baby purees for Cash to start eating "solids". Why do they call them solids when there's nothing solid about them? So far? He likes sweet potatoes and pears/peas/broccoli and he hates avocado!

We've been sippin' on some Witches' Brew.

Cash was not loving his bear costume! Ah well...maybe next year!
